The front and rear lights can also be paired with each other. The Bontrager Ion PRO RT and Flare RT lights provide visibility settings per sport profile – the light turns on automatically when the device is turned on and switches off when the device is turned off. The battery level is also visible on the device.
Bontrager RT lights deliver excellent performance both day and night. The flashing mode is extremely noticeable – everyone approaching will see it. The light is small and lightweight, so it can stay on the bike permanently. Charging happens from below, so there is no need to remove the light from the bicycle while charging.
Pulsing flash
The flash doesn't run at a steady frequency – it pulses at a pre-programmed, deliberately irregular interval, so drivers behind you never get used to it and keep their distance.
Charging
Charge the 2500 mAh battery using the included USB–Micro USB cable. Charging time: 2 hours. Compatible with any USB power source – phone charger, tablet adapter, or computer. Charging via a car cigarette lighter adapter may double the charging time.
The small LED next to the power button indicates charging status:
- Flashing red – 0–5% charge
- Solid red – 5–25% charge
- Solid green – 25–100% charge
First use
Before using the light for the first time, charge it for 2 hours. The light arrives with approximately 10–15% battery charge.
Storage
If you won't be using the light for an extended period, store it at 60% charge – this is the ideal storage level for li-ion batteries. To reach this level: start from a full charge and run the light on steady night mode for 1.5 hours, then switch it off. If 60% is not achievable, always store it in a charged state (between 60–100%).
